HOPING TO SEE YOU SOON!

On Friday the 19th of Iyar, May 28th 1948, after hard, heroic battles, the Jewish fighters of the Jewish Quarter laid down their weapons.

The commander of the Jordanian Legion, Abdullah El Tel, captured 341 prisoners — fighters and civilians — including youths, elderly people, wounded, and two medics who volunteered to escort the wounded into captivity in the Umm Al Jamal camp in Jordan.

This exhibition follows the story of the prisoners from the Old City from the day of their capture until the last of them returned to Israel on March 3rd, 1949. It tells the stories of the fighters and civilians through their letters, excerpts from diaries, their memoirs and objects in their possession during their captivity.
